These mountains are located in the far north of the Cordillera Blanca, and they make up part of Santa Cruz canyon.

Alpamayo was cited as the most beautiful mountain in the world durin a conference abaut scenic beauty held in Munich, Germany in 1966. It is shaped in an almost perfect pyramid. Quitaraju attains a height of 6,040 merters, ans is located facing Alpamayo.

These two mountains make a perfect pair for adventure seeking tourist in this part of the Cordillera.

ITINERARY

• Day 1: Huaraz (3,100 mts) - Cashapampa (2,970 mts) - Llamacorral Camp (3,760 mts).
• Day 2: Llamacorral Camp (3,760 mts) - Base Camp Alpamayo (4,300 mts).
• Day 3: Base Camp Alpamayo (4,300 mts) - Morrena Camp (4,950 mts).
• Day 4: Morrena Camp (4,950 mts) - one Camp Alpamayo (5,400 mts).
• Day 5: one Camp Alpamayo (5,400 mts) - Alpamayo Summit (5,947 mts) - one Camp Alpamayo (5,400 mts).
• Day 6: one Camp Alpamayo (5,400 mts) - Quitaraju Summit (6,040 mts) - one Camp Alpamayo (5,400 mts).
• Day 7: one Camp Alpamayo (5,400 mts) - Base Camp Alpamayo (4,300 mts).
• Day 8: Base Camp Alpamayo (4,300 mts) - Cashapampa (2,970 mts) - and come back to Huaraz.
